Our Family

Jake, a multi-generation Iowa farm kid, and Crystal, city girl from southern California, met in 2009 in Des Moines while out with friends.

Once Jake confirmed Crystal could handle the four seasons of Iowa farm life, he asked for her hand in marriage. In 2011 we (Jake and Crystal) were married creating the start of Bigelow Family Farm. In 2012 we added our Australian Cattle Dog (i.e., Blue Heeler), Kora, to the family. We have also been bless with two beautiful children, Edison and Ada. Although a hand full, they have brought joy to our life and created a whole new farming experience for us.

As of 2020 Jake has stopped working part-time as a engineering and is dedicating his time to farming full-time. Crystal works at John Deere Financial where she has worked since moving to Iowa in 2009. Even with her busy work schedule Crystal has transitioned into and excellent farm wife and now understands what it means to “squeal like a pig” or “run around like a chicken with its head cut off”. Throughout the years we have enjoyed our farming experiences together and working together fixing up our farmstead. We hope to have many more years to come and create new experiences with family, friends, and customers.
