The first 8 years I raised Herefords were learning years. I learned a lot of things that I didn’t like about the cows and bulls I had purchase to start my herd. It also took me that long to find the Trask Herefords. A breed within the Hereford breed that I have found to produce and thrive in my environment. I am always looking for bulls that produce calves that gain well, but what I am really looking for are bulls that produce problem free, functionally efficient daughters that can handle large amounts of fescue and other poor quality forages. These bulls do that.
Semen Now Available!!! Prestwood Plato X314 H7 (AHA# 44206912) DOB 3/16/2020: Our Current herd Sire. A linebred polled Hereford bull with an outstanding pedigree going back to the great Neil Trask herd. He includes Plato Rupert 123, Battle Rupert T352, and Plato Domino U457 in his pedigree. We got him in 2020 as a yearling from Kim Prestwood in North Carolina. This bull should provide fescue tolerant, problem free, grassed based offspring. It is extremely hard to find bulls of this pedigree and caliber this day and age. Pictured spring 2023. Semen is located at Hawkeye Breeders in Adel, Iowa. We are working on getting him AI permitted. This bull will produce easy fleshing grass-based offspring that will have longevity in your herd. He is not recommended for virgin heifers. The bull is AI permitted; certificates have to be purchased through Wellness Farms. Semen is located at Lookout Mountain in Fort Payne Alabama.

JB Lord of GM511 75 (AHA# 43948760) DOB 3/10/2017: Home raised from our top cow family and AI sired from a bull raised by Gene Meitler. We consider 75 to be our Bonsma bull. Gene’s cattle exhibit true Bonsma qualities and this bull is no different. He is frame score 4 and weighs over 2,100 lb. He produces good teats and udders. No Longer in our herd.
